Pre-booking and paying in advance

It's still mandatory for all activities, but we've made it easy to do so via our app and website or over the phone.

Remember: booking and paying has changed

You will NOT be able to book or pay at Reception at any of our centres.

Unless you have a reserved space in a Swim School lesson or Play Tennis coaching session, you will have to pre-book and pay in advance for your activity.

Whether you hold a membership with us or simply pay-as-you-go, we’re asking all our customers to pre-book and pay in advance.

This not only guarantees your space, but also protects our staff and you by reducing avoidable contact at our Receptions.

Our Play Fair policy launches 17 May so if you fail to attend a pre-booked session or you don’t cancel within 3 hours of a start time,  you will be charged a £3.00 Play Fair fee and any future bookings will be full price until the charge on your account is cleared.

Pre-booking FAQs

When can I start pre-booking?

Timetables and pre-booking is available now.

How many activities can I pre-book?

You can pre-book as many activities as you like, but please ensure you arrive on time. If you’re attending sessions one after the other, you’ll be asked to leave the building in between, so we can deep clean our equipment and facilities and keep an eye on capacities.

What if I’m late?

Lateness, in most instances, will mean that you will NOT be able to take part in your activity. This is already the case for our fitness classes under our safe exercise policy and may also not be safe under the current guidelines. To avoid disappointment, please make sure you’re on time, arriving no more than 10 minutes before your session is due to start.


Do I still need to cancel if I can’t attend a pre-booked activity?

Yes! If you’re unable to attend, please cancel your session within 3 hours of the start time, otherwise you will be charged a £3 Play Fair fee. This also applies if you fail to attend a session, so it’s really important that you cancel via our app or website or by calling the Customer Service Team. Play Fair and give someone else the opportunity to make the most of that session space!

Will I have to pre-book for Swim School lessons or Play Tennis coaching sessions?

No, if you’ve been advised your Direct Debit is restarting and we have confirmed your class day and time via email, this will act as your regular booking and you will NOT have to pre-book each week. Every other activity or session will have to be pre-booked.

Payment FAQs

How do I pay?

Once you have an Active Nottingham account, the best way to pay is by holding a Direct Debit or Annual membership – you’ll simply log in via our app or website and select your activity, with nothing to pay if it’s included in your membership.

Alternatively, you can pre-book your activity and pay in advance using your debit/credit card via our app and website or by calling our Customer Service team.

You can also top up your Active Nottingham account with debit for cashless payment. Deposit funds in advance – via our app, website or by calling our Customer Service team – and use them to pay for activities, without having to exchange cash or use your debit/credit card each time you pre-book, speeding up the process.

Can I pay using cash or cheque?

Sorry, we will NOT be handling cash when we reopen and we’re removing cheque as a payment method.

How much do activities cost and have you put your prices up after lockdown?

No, our prices are frozen. Click or tap here to see how much activities cost.

I paid for an activity before you closed, but haven’t had a refund?

We made attempts to contact all customers that had pre-booked and paid for an activity.

If we didn’t reach you, please email sportandleisure@nottinghamcity.gov.uk with the full details of your booking. Include your phone number and the best time to contact you, and we’ll arrange for a refund to be made over the phone.
