Customer Update – Fitness Studio at Ken Martin Leisure Centre

Jan 23 2026

Important update regarding our Fitness Studio

Following the recent storm, our fitness studio unfortunately experienced some water damage, which has affected the flooring. As a result, classes that involve higher levels of movement (such as dance, circuits and similar sessions) cannot safely take place at the moment.

However, we are still able to run more static-style classes, including Yoga, Pilates and Stretch, as these do not require the same level of movement across the floor.

To ensure we can continue offering as many sessions as possible while prioritising everyone’s safety, our Health & Safety team has assessed the studio space and marked out a safe area for temporary class delivery. Their recommendation is for us to reduce class capacity during this period.

To make the necessary adjustments to the Group Exercise timetable, all existing bookings for classes from 26 January 2026 will be cancelled. We appreciate that this will be disappointing, but this step allows us to create a temporary timetable that works safely within the reduced space.

New Temporary Timetable

Our updated, temporary timetable will open for bookings on Monday 26 January 2026 at 10am.
Bookings will be available on a first‑come, first‑served basis, which we feel is the fairest approach given the circumstances and the fact that not all sessions will be suitable or of interest to everyone.

Please note: Aqua Fit classes are unaffected and will run as scheduled.

In addition, please be aware that we have five other leisure centres offering a full range of group fitness timetables. Southglade Leisure Centre is the closest alternative to Ken Martin, providing plenty of options for anyone looking to maintain their routine while the temporary timetable is in place.

Thank you for your understanding

We expect this to be a short period of inconvenience and are working as quickly as possible to have the flooring repaired. We’re grateful for your patience and support while we manage this unexpected issue, and we look forward to welcoming you back to a fully operational studio very soon.

If you have any questions, please speak to a member of the Ken Martin Leisure Centre team.
