New Gym Equipment FAQs

Customer FAQs

Following the announcement of investment refurbishment works across Active Nottingham we have created a list of expected questions and answers for members during this time.
What are the gym closure dates?

Victoria Leisure Centre gym will be closed from Friday 24 November 2023 until Sunday 3 December 2023: reopening on Monday 4 December 2023 for a VIP open day. Official reopening on Tuesday 5 December 2023.

Southglade Leisure Centre gym will be closed from Friday 1 December until Sunday 10 December 2023: reopening on Monday 11 December 2023 for a VIP open day. Official reopening on Tuesday 12 December 2023.

When will the other leisure centre gyms be updated?

Clifton Leisure Centre and Harvey Hadden Sports Village were refurbished in March 2023 with new decor and Life Fitness Equipment.

Victoria Leisure Centre and Southglade Leisure Centre haven't had any renovations within their gyms for some time, so the decision was made to choose these locations next.

We will be working through refurbishing the remaining two leisure centres during the next 3 years as previously stated in our initial press release.

How will my gym access be affected?

Access to the gyms will be restricted during the refurbishment process, however full access to our other centres will be made available to all membership types, including those wanting to Pay as You Go.

Whilst work is taking place at Victoria Leisure Centre and Southglade Leisure Centre, users can also access the fitness studios (outside the regular fitness class timetable) to work out as well as utilise equipment that is available within the fitness studio at that time (Please note there will be a limited amount of equipment available).

Will fitness classes be affected?

Fitness class timetables will not be affected and in some instances, additional classes may be available. Further details of this will be released closer to the refurbishment start date.

Will anything else be affected?

Depending on the work taking place, you may be redirected via different routes within the centres. This will be made clear at each leisure centre.

Can I use other centres during this time?

Yes, all membership types and those choosing to Pay as You Go will have access to other centres.

Who is providing the new gym equipment?

Active Nottingham is pleased to be working in partnership with and has selected Life Fitness to provide, install and maintain the new equipment at our six leisure centres.

What equipment will be in the gym?

- Premium fitness equipment from Life Fitness, Hammer Strength and ICG® - suitable for all training interests and fitness levels, so you can get the most out of every workout

- An immersive digital experience with new cardio equipment consoles - offering the latest entertainment options and interactive workouts to keep you motivated

- Functional Zone with training rig and accessories – a great space for individual workouts or training with friends

- Environmentally friendly Green Zone with self-powered equipment – so together we can do more to help the environment

- Health Zone featuring body composition scanner from Boditrax, plus other exciting things coming soon - as your health and wellbeing are our priority

Will I need an induction/refresher?

An online induction can be located here, alongside How-To videos of the new Life Fitness equipment.

What made you choose this equipment?

Following a customer consultation/survey that we ran in late June/July 2023, we have used the feedback provided by you, the user of these leisure centres.

Based on the consultation results we have kept the core equipment types that people asked for and introduced new equipment that will benefit existing and new users/members of our leisure facilities.

What else is happening to our gyms?

The renovations aren’t just a refresh of equipment, we will also include a full makeover of the gym (including new fitness equipment) but also new flooring and facility refresh with functional zones, green zones, health and wellbeing zones and cardio areas.

What will happen to the old equipment?

As part of the project, the old equipment will go back to the supplier who will then refurbish and recycle it back into their network.

Will prices increase as a result of this project?

Prices will not increase based on this investment. However, as per our terms and conditions, our prices are reviewed annually and may be subject to an increase.
