Following Tuesday’s announcement that leisure centres and gyms will remain closed for now, we acknowledge that it is frustrating to our customers and staff not to have a set date. Active Nottingham will continue to update you and maintain communications.
Restart planning centres on ensuring we have clean and safe facilities that give customers plenty of space to enjoy exercising and our staff confidence in their safety at work. We have already begun a staged reopening of Active Nottingham with outdoor tennis, which has gone excellently, and this week we launched live-streamed exercise classes to join from home.
We have been adapting our centres and working towards reopening more of our facilities in early July, with 6th July as a provisional date. We now know this will not be our opening date. We will continue to prepare for restart, pending government confirmation, with the new anticipated time of mid-July in mind.
The great news is that we are going to continue to offer our Active Nottingham Live streamed online classes for free, with links posted to the Facebook events, and our backlog of classes will be available soon.

We were so pleased to be able to help you stay fit at home with our Home Workouts page. We’re now stepping it up a level and will soon launch streamable home fitness classes with our own fab instructors.
This is a great opportunity for members to get back into training again and to reengage with their favourite people and sessions.
We welcome new members to join in and meet our larger-than-life friendly Active Nottingham personalities!
We implemented our Value Promise to ensure no member or customer was left out of pocket by the closure, and we keep our promises.
Memberships will only be restarted when the service they are using restarts (e.g. gyms and classes for Health and Fitness members), which is currently none of them.
Please be assured we’ll be writing out to members to notify them when their membership will be unfrozen. We’ll also provide plenty of advance notice of when your direct debit payments will resume.
Not feeling it yet?
That’s OK! We understand that returning to our facilities may not feel right for everybody when reopening happens. Members not ready to restart will have the option to keep their membership frozen. Even if you choose this, you can still:

We hope all of our members are keeping healthy and active during this period of closure. We miss you all, and we’re excited at the prospect of being able to welcome people back to some of our facilities in a responsible way.
We are delighted to make available some of the outdoor courts at our world-class tennis facility, Nottingham Tennis Centre, as part of the limited number of Nottingham City Council tennis courts being made available across the city from Saturday 23rd May 2020.
Tennis courts cost £10 per hour and are bookable same-day only on the LTA’s tennis booking platform ClubSpark. Advanced booking is compulsory – you can’t turn up and play.
To enjoy our outdoor tennis, which is socially distanced and subject to several conditions of use, please follow the Safe Tennis Guidelines.
In line with government guidance, all other Active Nottingham services remain closed.
Nottingham Tennis Centre’s indoor facilities remain closed, as are all our leisure centres. This means the majority of our staff continue to be furloughed and all Active Nottingham memberships are still frozen without charge, as per our Value Promise.
The wellbeing of customers and staff will remain at the forefront of all Nottingham City Council decisions on reopening.

This means you are unable to access any of our facilities and services, including our Customer Service Team. All classes and coaching sessions are cancelled until we re-open.
When we reopen, we will let you know.
Our staff are now being redeployed to other areas of Nottingham City Council, to support the mission of protecting our vulnerable citizens during the pandemic. Because of this, there is no longer anybody available to answer your queries via phone, email, or Messenger.
